In this eBibleguide, Victor takes you through 4 steps to become a Christian. Before I proceed, let me clarify some myths about the subject:
Here are the 4 steps to become a Christian:
1Acknowledge That You are a Sinner
The first step to become a Christian is to accept that you are a sinner. This is a very important step. Accepting that you are a sinner and that you cannot help yourself is an important first step.
To help you understand this step, let’s read Romans 3:20-24 [New Living Translation (NLT)]:
20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.
22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
As you can see from verse 20, we cannot please God by doing what the old testament law commands. However, verse 21 says that “God has shown us a way to be made right with him“. The answer is in verse 22 – “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ“.
But for the purpose of the first step to become a Christian, read verse 23 – “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Before you proceed to the next step, you have to accept this Bible fact.
2Accept that Jesus Paid for Your Sins
After accepting that you are a sinner, the next step to become a Christian is to formally accept that Jesus died for the same sin. To help explain this step, let’s read Romans 5:8 –
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Before, you proceed to the next step, sink this in – Jesus died for your sins. So, even though you are a sinner, accept that Jesus already paid the consequences of the sin.
3Openly Declare that Jesus Died and Was Raised
After accepting that you are a sinner but Jesus already paid for the same sins, the next step to become a Christian is to openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.
You have to actually say these words. Before I give you the actual words, let me show you where it is in the Bible. To help explain this step, let’s read Romans 10:9-10 –
9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
This is the most important step to become a Christian – openly declaring your faith in Jesus. So, to become a Christian now, say these words –

4Grow in God’s Word – The Bible
After you have become a Christian, you have to start living like a Christian. The Bible has all the information you need to live this new life. So, it is important to start reading the Bible. The next step to living a Christian life is to join a Bible-based church.
As a new Christian, the first part – reading the Bible – is very challenging but one way to make it easy is to start small.
eBibleguide.com has 2 resources that will start you off: 1, you can start reading our Daily Bible Verses. The daily Bible verses give you a Bible verse to read everyday. 2, to help explain the Bible verses, you can add reading our daily devotionals.
The final step to help you develop as a Christian is to find a Bible-based church in your neighborhood and join them.
However, if you live in a country where a church is NOT freely available, you can find a Church to join online. We can recommend Daystar Christian Centre YouTube Channel – eBibleguide.com is not affiliated to this church.
